I work for an SAP Gold Partner and I'm participating in the Ramp Up of SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 - I've installed this successfully on Windows Server 2008 R2 using the default database option and default installation path. This works without issue.
My problem is, I'm now installing on Windows Server 2012 - This is a vanilla install on a blank server using the default installation path, bundled database etc. (Before anyone comments about supported platforms, yes Windows Server 2012 is supported).
Like with my Windows 2008 server, I haven't gone through any configuration changes such as splitting the APS yet, I'm reluctant to do this until I get at least the basics working out of the box... Which currently is not happening.
Logged on as the Administrator user, then choosing Documents from the BI Launchpad tabs and selecting 'View' on one of the pre-built Web Intelligence reports I get this error message:Illegal access to the viewer, please use a valid url. So, I tried going back to the Home tab and selecting Web Intelligence from the My Applications menu, after clicking OK, Don't Block and/or Allow to various Java messages, I am presented with an error box advising: Your session has timed out..Close the Java Interface and log on again.
It might be worth pointing out at this point that I get the 'Illegal Access' message in the Central Management Console as well, but not the timeout message.
Checking Task Manager, I can see a number of SAP JVM Java processes running that I can't kill as they keep regenerating, I've installed the latest Java Version from Oracle (Version 7, update 25) and I'm running Internet Explorer 10 (Compatibility View (on or off, it doesn't matter). Also, the issue occurs in different browsers. Looking at the web.xml, my the standard default timeout of 20 minutes is set, even changing this to another value (60 in my case) doesn't make a difference.
Checking the install log, there's no errors there so I'm at a loss here. I've checked on the SAP Support Portal and I have been unable to find many (if any) references to this issue, so I'm ideally looking for one of the SAP employees that monitor this forum, or a dedicated 'groupie' perhaps to offer some assistance.
Has anyone else tried to install BI 4.1 on Windows Server 2012 (Obviously someone has as it's in the supported platforms guide)... I really don't know what might be causing the issue.
Thanks,
Ian
