CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting

Dear All,

We are facing this error message when running queries in web intelligence:

Database error: ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer error: Requested server name not found..

The universe is created in a client Designer with these specs:

OS: Win XP

Sybase Driver: Adaptive Server Enterprise Open Client 15.00.00.152 (SYBDRVODB.dll)

Client version: BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2

The BusinessObjects server has these specs:

OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 AS 2.6.9-42

Sybase Driver: libsybdrvodb.so

Server Version: BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2

The Database server where we are retrieving data is on a separate machine and has the following specs:

OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 2.6.18-53

Sybase Server Version: Sybase ASE version 12.5

We've installed DSN on the BusinessObjects Server and here are the configuration:

These are the contents of the odbcinst.ini file

[Adaptive Server Enterprise]

Description             = Sybase ODBC Driver

Driver          = /opt/BUSINESS_OBJECTS/ASE12/DataAccess/ODBC/lib/libsybdrvodb.so

FileUsage               = -1

UsageCount              = 1

These are the contents of the the odbc.ini file

[SERVER_READER]

Description             = Sybase ODBC Data Source

UserID          = sa

Password                = <password value>

Driver          = Adaptive Server Enterprise

Server          = 192.168.6.18

Port            = 5000

Database                = STAGING1

UseCursor               = 1

The interfaces file in the $SYBASE directory contains:

SERVER_READER

        master tcp ether 192.168.6.18 5000

        query tcp ether 192.168.6.18 5000

We've tested the connection from the client machine to the database server and it works successfully. We've also tested the connection of the DSN from BusinessObjects Server to Sybase ASE server and it works perfectly too.

I think we've done it correctly but still we cannot get through the

error. Are we missing something here? Can anyone please help us in this

issue?

Thanks,

jad
