Dear Gurus,
I know that this topics has been posted several times, but I couldn't solve this issue by just looking at them. For this reason let me introduce the solution we have developed and the issue we are facing including the actions taken trying to solve it.
We are working in a cluster environment with the following configuration:
PROD_SERVER (PS)
- Windows Server 2012
- BI 4.1 SP 2 path 2
- Oracle 11g
- Java 6.1
- Language packages installed:
- English
- Arabic Saudi Arabia
- Arabic UAE
CLUSTER_SERVER (CS)
- Windows Server 2012
- BI 4.1 SP 2 path 2
- Oracle 11g
- Java 6.1
- Language packages installed:
- English
- Arabic Saudi Arabia
I have checked in our customers database and the character set is set up to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256, but the character set in the servers (NLS_LANG registry) is set up to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252. Querying with SQL developer directly to the database the result is good and the Arabic characters are shown properly, but when we refresh the reports that contain Arabic characters, those are shown like "?".
After that I have tried the following actions:
- Change the character set in the server to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1256: the result when refreshing the WebIs is ORA 12705.
- Based on other customer's experience I set up the servers' character set to ARABIC_UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.AR8MSWIN1256: Now the error does not come up, but still the Arabic characters are junk.
- Changing the preferences in BI launchpad (playing with time and zone options).
