Hi Experts!
Like was planned and announced by Google, in September 1 the support for NPAPI was deprecated in the Chrome version 45. Take a look in NPAPI deprecation: developer guide and Plugin-based content doesn't work on Chrome. Now, in the version 45 of Chrome, is not possible to run the Webi Java Applet.
There is the SAP Note 2156305, this note explain how to activate the NPAPI in Chrome, however was for the version 42 of Chrome, for the version 45 not exists NPAPI to activate. The workaround is to use Webi Rich Client or other browsers. Webi Web or Webi HTML runs without problems, include Google Chrome.
The problem: Is not possible to create a query in Webi with BEx without the Webi Java Applet. By the Webi HTML is possible to a new query only over Universe.
By Java Applet:
By HTML (Web)
For a corporate environment where Chrome is the official browser, and even exists IE disponible for the users (because is the default in Windows), is very complicated to explain to a thousand users to don't use Chrome, to use IE very slowly and with many crashes. To propose install Firefox is not a good idea by the infrastructure administrators, of course...
I found a workaround, is necessary to change some registry keys:
Policy List - The Chromium Projects
I didn't test this yet, but I will try. This is not a good solution for me, because I'm talking about a thousand of users.
In my opinion, I don't know why SAP keep the this Java Applet yet. Exists the HTML interfaces and this work very well, is necessary improve some little things and put this others data sources. For a company like SAP, so big, so market leader, so innovative and vanguard, I really don't know what is the difficult to depreciate the Java Applet for Webi. That should have been done in the version 4.x. Why SAP? WHY???
Well, after my complaint, my question for experts is: Somebody know if exists a SP or roadmap that previou the depreciation of Java?
Thanks for everybody!
