Input Control from a "check all that apply" question.

Hello,

Is it possible to create a single input control filter from a dimension that results from a "check all that apply" question that accurately filters responses according to any one of those answers?  Sorry if that doesn't make a lot of sense.  I have been having a hard time trying to frame this question accurately.  For example:

I have a dimension with a string value that can be something like these:

1. Apple/Banana/

2. Apple/

3. Banana/Cherry/Orange/Grapefruit/

4. Cherry/Grapefruit/

5. Apple/Orange/

The check all that apply question results in a single string with the separate responses separated by "/" (it is actually a vertical bar in my report, but same difference).

I would like to make an input control where the user can select a single one of these options (e.g. "Apple" or "Cherry" ... not the whole unique string) and have the report filtered down to any response that includes that response.  For example, if the user selected "Apple" in the input control, lines 1, 2, and 5 would remain.  Or if the user selected "Orange" in the input control, lines 3 and 5 would remain.

My current work around is to create separate input controls for each possible response option from multiple variables I made, for example

=If Match([Fruit_Question];"*Apple*") Then "Apple"

If a user selects "Apple" in this input control rather than "All values", the report is filtered down as I wanted, but this makes for a long cumbersome list of input controls--especially if I apply this solution to a question with about 15 possible responses.

Does this make sense?

Thank you for your help.

Michael
