Webi Report runs forever

We have internal URL and External URL to login into InfoView. Our Customer use external URL to login into InfoView. One of the Webi reports has a strange problem. We are able to refresh this report interactively (Refresh manually in 11 - 12 mins) and also schedule successfully when doing from Internal URL. Through External URL, this report I can schedule successfully but cannot refresh interactively. It just runs forever (hours) and does not throw any error. I have checked the query is hitting database and fetching data but not sure whats wrong on BO side.

 

Our's is a clustered environment (node 1 & 2, 3 processing servers) and we have CITRIX NetScaler 7000 load balancer, if you are logging from external URL.I have checked with out networking team about settings in URL/Load balancer/time out settings without much help.

 

I have to get this report resolved as 1 of top client is owner of this report and she for what reason in the world want to refresh only interactively (even though she can schedule and check results).

 

I checked with my Load balancer team and the session persistence was being handled by a cookie insert and had been set all the way up to 60 minutes.

It was set to backup persistence to be by source ip and that was set as high as 60 minutes also.The Client Timeout values were originally 180 seconds and were changed to as high as 9000 seconds, none of which seemed to help this report,  normally takes 12 - 14 mins to refresh interactively and has Start Date and End Date prompts to it.

Report run process

Hi,

 

I want to understand the process of BICS Connectivity for Webi 4.1 SP 3. I have few questions and I searched the web but did not find the answer

 

1) how the process work when we run the Webi report first time and when the user run this report second time

2) how the process work when we have scheduled report and user run this report

3) how the process behave if we use the prompt

4) how the process behave if we use input control.

 

Please help me to understand these process

Open doc links in 1 PDF

HI Experts,

 

I have a cross tab which has 10 reports with opendoc link, user see each on demand and save to PDF, now he also wants to see all the reports in 1 go  where he will just click and have all the reports opendoc link in just 1 PDF, instead of going to each ad see 1 PDF. can we achieve this in webi? I am using SAP BI 4.1

Syntax issue Opendoc is passing prompt data to child report - BICS based 4.0 Web Intellgence reports

SCN Colleagues,

    I am creating two reports to show sales returns by region. I am using BI4 SP4. Source is BEx queres for all reports. Using BICS connection for Web intelligence report.

 

    First report has summary table that gives count of sales retuns by region.

 

   eg:

    Region     Sales return

    AFR          20

    EUR         40

 

etc.

 

When we click on region, it should open a child report, that gives details of products returned, customer, city etc.

 

I am usng the following syntax.

Issue is region name is not changing as hyperlink.  Entire syntax is visible in the region column

Max no. of Webi services possible on a single physical server

Hi All,

 

We have been facing the below errors -

 

1) The Web Intelligence server is busy. Please save any pending change and try again later. If the problem persists, contact your BusinessObjects administrator. (Error: ERR_WIS_30284)

2) The Web Intelligence server memory is full. Please log off and try to connect later. If the problem persists, contact your Business Objects administrator. (WIS 30280)

 

Our reports are very very complex and seem to be crossing the memory limits (Upper Memory Threshold =1500MB/Max Memory Threshold=1800MB)

 

Testing done from our end : We scheduled a very complex report, retreiving huge data, every 3 mins (scheduled a particular Webi Processing server)

Observations :

1) The first 4 instances of CST-2203 report ran successfully.

2) 5th instance failed with following error message:

The Web Intelligence server is busy. Please save any pending change and try again later. If the problem persists, contact your BusinessObjects administrator. (Error: ERR_WIS_30284)

3) 6th& 7th instance also failed but the error message was:

The Web Intelligence server memory is full. Please log off and try to connect later. If the problem persists, contact your Business Objects administrator. (WIS 30280)


We went through quite a few SAP notes, specifically-

1482911 - talks about increasing Webi servers and reducing idle connection timeouts

1297195 - reducing connection limit, idle timeout, Adding Webi servers and hardware

 

Can you please help me understand the max no of Webi servers I can have on a single machine? (currently we have 4 webi services)

 

BO server specs :

-Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition Service pack 2

-No of CPU cores : 16

-RAM : 32 GB

-BOE XI 3.1 SP4 FP 4.2

-Physical servers

-We have 2 physical servers with BOE installed, 2 Weblogic 10.3.2 servers, Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 Repository DB,

-2 CMS services (1 on each server)

-2 IFRS and 2OFRS(1 on each server)

-4 Adaptive Job server(2 on each server)

-8 Webi servers (4 on each server)

 

Please let me know if in case any queries/clarifications.

Oftentimes when I press the Refresh button and proceed to select the criteria in the Prompts dialog box, I get the following error:

 

An internal error occurred while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)

 

If I press the OK button, press the Refresh button again, and select the same criteria again, no error occurs and the report displays properly.

 

I've not found any pattern for -- nor cause of -- this issue. What could be causing it? How do I resolve it so that my end users don't see it?

Webi Report execution after BW Info provider Refresh

Hi Experts !!

 

We are looking for a way to trigger webi reports to users every morning after successful data load completion in sap bw.

Currently, we have a fixed time at which the report is emailed to the users through Webi Launchpad. However, sometimes the info provider is not refresh or its load is delayed and the users get the report with old data.

 

In BW BEx Reports, we handle this by Event Broadcast in Process Chain. Can some help me get the details at WEBI end ?

Using Like or Contains kind in WEBI

Hi Experts,

 

How do I implement LIKE or CONTAINS kind of operator in WEBI report level.

I can't use Matches Pattern at query as I have to group a column based on report output values.

 

BEx based report, so can't implement this in Universe.

 

Requirement:

 

if ([ObjName] contains 'ABC') then ('QRS')

elseif  ( [ObjName] contains 'DEF') then ('TUV')

elseif([ObjName] contains 'FIG') then ('XUV')

elseif([ObjName] contains 'LMP')  then ('XYZ')

else ([ObjName])

 

BO Version - 4.1 SP5

Using shortcut join

Hello,

 

Using shortcut can we resolve the loop(context/Alias). Is there is any issues occur using shortcutjoin.   If rather than using shortcutjoin in case ordinary join is there getting relevant data or there is any difference.

If you run the report in webi  the report is refreshing suddenly if you delete the dimension in webi in middle what will happen wheather it will display the data or not.

Compensating for poor universe design in WEBI

Hi!

 

I've been banging my head against a particular challenge I'm facing off the back of the design of a Universe I operate in. Unfortunately, changing the universe is not a viable option.

 

My data contains Events, with Start Date(s) and End Date(s) recorded (among hundreds of other datatypes).


What I am attempting to do is create a new report(easy), with a continual date axis(simple enough), where on each date there is a count of events that are still ongoing(not so easy!).

 

What I've found is that the continual date variable created through a TimeDim() isn't suitable, as each event record is tied to a specific value of the TimeDim variable.

 

I'm hoping for an output along the lines of the below. The age checks I'm fine with (and don't actually correspond to the below), and the conditional counts, it's the alignment of week to date.

Is there any way to do what I'm trying to do other than manually creating a ton of individual measures, one per run time per week?

Calculating Business Days (NETWORKDAYS) in Webi

I am trying to figure out a formula that will calculate the number of business days (M-F) between two dates.

 

I know there are new RelativeDate function features but I have not read anything regarding this.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Webi report performance

Hi All,

 

I have few doubts regarding report performance, it would be great if someone can help:

 

In a webi document that I am working on there are around 40 queries. I have to add tables for those 40 queries in a document.

 

Which is better option from below wrt to performance:

 

1. To add tables in separate reports(different tabs) 

 

2. To add tables in same report(tab)

Formula Question

In Business Objects, I have a date value, for example, 1/1/2016, in one column.  I have a 2nd column with an amortization term, for example, 24 months.  I am trying to set up a formula in a third column to return last payment date, which in this example would be 12/1/2017.

 

This appears to be straightforward, however, I was only partially successful in my efforts.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Displaying number of hours as DD:HH:MM

Hi,  I have a measurement in hours that I'd like to display as DD:HH:MM.  I have a formula that I'm using and I have the correct DD:HH, but the MM is not accurate.

 

Attached is the formula that I'm using to format the number.

Data coming through on two rows

I have data that is coming into my report on a separate line.  Attached is a screenshot.  The highlighted cells shoud come through in the same row.  Why does this happen and how can I fix this?

Restrict rights selectively to Webi preferences

Hi,

 

I have created security for users to have access to preferences > webi preferences. But user can see all the prefrences like View, Modify, When viewing a document, Drill options etc. Is there a way to restrict the users only to View and Modify and hide other options? Though users have view and modify rights, can i explicity mask the rights for users only to View or certain parts of the webi preferences?

Formula using value from different query

Hi Experts

 

I am having trouble to create formula for Operating (Income) Loss line as shown in below screenshot. ( Webi 4.1 SP5)

Operating(Income) Loss =[Var_Oper_Exp]+[Var_Depre]+[Var_Revenue]+[Var_COGS]

 

The above formula adds correctly only Oper_exp and Depreciation in Block 2 but add extra column in right with total amount from Block 1 (Query 1)

CMC not working in the new environment

I get a blank browser screen. Other users are able to run it. I can also access CMC in the browser from my PC.

 

Two screenshots together - prod (not working) and dev (working). Note the icon differences. Prod environment only shows Tomcat icon.
