which is the better way to create the report on top of BW Datasources? Why?

Dear All,

Created webi reports is two ways;

(1) By connecting the BW Queries directly from BI Launchpad.

(2) Create a report by using universe on top of BW Queries,Cubes..and export these Universes to the repository and create the reports on top that.

Kindly provide me the suggestions which is the better way to create the report on top of BW Datasources? Why?

Problem - Webi merging a variable with a dimension

$

Hi All,

I'am new here and also a newbie in Webi.

I need to merge a variable with a dimension. After some research, i found, it is not possible. may be you have an idee how can resolve my problem:

I have 2 queries :

Query1:
Person, Parent, HouseId

A    A    1
B    A    2
C    B    Null

Query2:
HouseId, Number, Street

1    11   s1
2    22   s2

I want to build one report (HouseId, Number and Street for a Person, if the person has no House get the one of the Parent):

Person, Parent, HouseId         Number,   Street
A    A    1                                  11        s1
B    A    2                                   22       s2
C    B    2(HouseId from parent B) 22       s2

I merged the diemsnions HouseId from the queries but still only have data if the HouseId is not null.

So I created a new Variable

Code:
HouseId_Merged =  If IsNull([HouseId]) then (HouseId In [Parent]) else [HouseId]

and it works for HouseId.

But i can't get the Number and Street for the Person C.

Thank you for any suggestion icon_mrgreen.gif

How to show only completed weeks in report filter

$

0

Dear All,

I am facing an issue from last week and I wonder if anyone faced this issue

I want to show only finished weeks of current month in report filter. My requirement is, if I select 201505(fiscal year month) it should show all four weeks of that particular month (201517,201518,201519,201520- fiscal year weeks) and it works fine.

The issue is, If I select current month that is 201506(only 24 days have been completed in this month) the fiscal year dimension(which i used in report filter) should show only till today's day. that is, it should show (201521,201522,201523 but not 201524) because 201524 has not finished. it should show when all 7 days of this weeks completes. but it shows all the four weeks.

How can i achieve this, could anyone have solved this.. Please help...

Error while refreshing and Scheduling WebI Report

Hi Experts,

I am getting a strange error while refreshing or Scheduling a WebI Report . The error says:

" while trying to invoke the method com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.queryview.resultset.IRsAxisTupleElement.getCharacteristicMember() of a null object loaded from local variable 'element' "

If I cancel the error and refresh again the report works fine, scheduling of report always fail.

This is happening in our QA environment where as the same report works fine in Dev.

Current BO Version : 4.1 SP05

Any inputs for the similar experience will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Vib

Format data from report 1 based on report 2

Hi there,

I have a BO with 2 reports (tabs) using the same data provider, but different filters.

The first one is displaying sites from the DB but with a filter on the query that only sites with some incorrect information or empty fields are displayed

The second tab is displaying all sites, whether site information is correct, filled in, or not.

What I would like to do is delete or highlight some sites from the first report, based on information coming from the last report (second tab).

For example, my first tab is showing Site "Belgium" and is displaying it because the "Postcode" is empty :

Site NameStatusPostcode
BelgiumAlternate

... this is thanks to the filter I have set for this data provider to display entries with empty or incorrect fields only

The last tab of the report, same data provider but without any filter is displaying the line with incorrect information, but the DB also contains another entry where all information is correct (the line with "Preferred") :

Site NameStatusPostcode

Belgium

Alternate

Belgium

Preferred1000

As in the DB there is an entry (the "preferred") where all data is correct, I do not need to worry about the one where the Postcode is missing my my report .... so my question :

Is it possible to format / hide information in the first tab based on information located in the last tab ?

P.S. you would advide me to just remove and take the "PReferred" ones but sometimes for some other Sites there is an Alternate with missing information where there is no "correct" preferred with it, so in that case I need to display the "alternate" as it contains empty information and need to be corrected ...

Many thanks !!

Element Linking not working

$

Hi,

We have a authority problem in Business Objects concerning the possibility to do element linking in the reports based on how the properties are defended for the different groups in CMC.

Report 'A' is present at folder :/System/USA/Sales

The column Terminal in the first table have a WEBI linking element so you should be able to click on the terminal in order to filter the information in the table below

This works perfectly during development from test user (ABCD111) but when we test it just using users that only have view rights the linking doesn't work, you don't get any possibility to click.

If we change the authority in the CMC so that the users become a super user it works but we don’t want this users to be super users. This is not working for normal user group and working perfect only for Super user groups.

We would like to get an answer to what rights must a user have to be able to perform element linking in a report

How do we implement this in our authority model ?

Appreciate your help on this.

Hi Experts,

I am having 2 data provider in webi, one is from universe query and other from excel. In excel we have one column called "Match-Key" and its description. Match-Key is built on concatenation of other columns in same excel.

In universe query I have same set of columns using which "Match-key" can be created in this side.

What I need is to compare Match-Key of univ. query with excel Match-Key and keep data of universe query where universe_query Match-Key is matching with excel Match-Key.

Also show the Description of Match-Key from excel in report whose Match-Keys are matched.

I have created universe_query Match-Key using variable. Created one another variable where I have given following formula:

Check_key = If(Excel.Match-Key = Univquery.Match-Key;1;0) and given filter in report Check_key = 1.

But it is doing nothing in report. Data remains same in report.

Please guide me to come over the issue.

Data are:

Dear Expert,

I have created Webi Report and I have created Input control based on project and plant.

Example , Project A, B , C, D

and Plant A.a,A.b,A.c,B.a,B.b,C.a,C.b,D.a,D.b

When in input control I am selection Project A then in plant Input control it should display A.a,A.b,A.c but Instead of that its displaying all the plant.

Please guide me how to resolve this issue.

WEBI cross table help please

Hello I have a universe with three columns of data:

Agent Name -> String

Customer -> String

Date -> Date

This data is used to log visits by agents to different customers.  I want the table to display like so:

Untitled.png

When I create the query, it creates this vertical table:

Untitled3.png

But when I create a cross table, it formats like this:

Untitled4.png

How can I make the table format like my first image?  Seems a bit pointless that a cross table would show the data in the way that it does - its just wrong.  Please keep your replies as simple and detailed as possible as I have had no training on webi and am just picking it up as I go along.

Thanks

Steven

Running Sum

Hi Team,

I have report in XIR2 and blow is the structure of the report :

=[Company]

                                                                             Block 1

              #               Id           Name           Amount

=RunningSum(1)   =[Id]         =[Name]       =[Amount]

                                                                             Block 2

              #               Id           Name           Amount

=RunningSum(1)   =[Id]         =[Name]       =[Amount]

I have applied a section on Company as we have different companys' and then i have applied block level filters on Block 1 to display values where Amount >=0 and in the similar way i have applied the block level filter on Block 2 to show the values Amount <0

Here is same sample data of the report :

Company 1

#    Id         Name     Amount

1     123       ABC       100

2     125       DEF        110

3     121       FGH        115

Compnay 2

#    Id         Name     Amount

1     123       ABC       125

2     125       DEF        110

3     121       FGH        115

Company 1

#    Id         Name     Amount

1     123       ABC       -100

2     125       DEF        -110

3     121       FGH       - 115

Compnay 2

#    Id         Name     Amount

1     123       ABC       -125

2     125       DEF       - 110

3     121       FGH       - 115

If you take a look at the serial number in XIR2 the number starts from 1 in every block of the report

But in XIR4.1 the data is as below :

Company 1

#    Id         Name     Amount

1     123       ABC       100

2     125       DEF        110

3     121       FGH        115

Compnay 2

#    Id         Name     Amount

1     123       ABC       125

2     125       DEF        110

3     121       FGH        115

Company 1

#    Id         Name     Amount

4    123       ABC       -100

5     125       DEF        -110

6    121       FGH       - 115

Compnay 2

#    Id         Name     Amount

4    123       ABC       -125

5     125       DEF       - 110

6     121       FGH       - 115

In XI4.1 the serial number is getting increased from where it stops in the first block.

My requirement is to show this as it is in XIR2 in XI4.1 report.

Can some one give inputs on how to achieve this.

Hi Team,

I have report in BOXIR2 and when I have exported the data of this report to Excel I could see that tab's are hidden. The same report has been migrated to XI4.1 and and I have exported to Excel and I don't see any hidden tabs after exporting the data to excel in XI4.1.

Could you please provide some inputs why the tabs are hidden when the data exported to excel in XIR2.

Please note : Without the hidden tabs the data and everything matches in XIR2  and XI4.1.

Thanks
